Filmax Granvia Cinemas are part of the Filmax Group, an independent company with 100% Spanish capital and an international vocation, dedicated to the creation, production, post-production, distribution and exhibition of audiovisual content for the entertainment industry.
Production
Among Filmax's production titles are hits such as EL LOBO, which exceeded one and a half million viewers; DARKNESS, by Jaume Balagueró, which was a great box office success in Spain and the United States, or [REC] and [REC]2, both directed by Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza, and [REC]3 GENESIS, directed by Paco Plaza. Filmax's wide international projection can be seen in titles already released such as THE MACHINIST, by Brad Anderson, with Christian Bale, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Aitana Sánchez-Gijón in the cast; FRÁGILES by Jaume Balagueró, which featured Calista Flockhart, Richard Roxburgh and Elena Anaya in its ranks; PERFUME, STORY OF A MURDERER, directed by Tom Tyckwer, where we could see Dustin Hoffman, Alan Rickman and the young Ben Whishaw; TRANSSIBERIAN, also directed by Brad Anderson, has a stellar cast headed by Woody Harrelson, Emily Mortimer, Ben Kingsley, Eduardo Noriega and Kate Mara; or THE WAY, directed by Emilio Estevez and starring Martin Sheen. Among the latest productions, the family film SNOWFLAKE, directed by Andrés G. Schaer and based on the only white gorilla in the world, stands out. A mixture of animation and live action, the film was one of the most watched titles of the season in Spain and in other countries, highlighting Italy and Poland. Another of the company's recent successes is WHILE YOU SLEEP, by Jaume Balagueró, which has received wonderful reviews in Spain and abroad, as well as receiving 6 important awards at the last edition of the Gaudí Awards given by the Catalan Film Academy (Best Film, Best Direction, Best Screenplay, Best Leading Actor, Best Editing, Best Sound). The latest Filmax production released is the fantastic thriller THE RETURNED, directed by Manuel Carballo. The film, shot entirely in Canada, had its Spanish premiere at the Sitges Festival 2013, also participating in the Strasbourg and Busan festivals. In October 2014, [REC]4 APOCALYPSE, by Jaume Balagueró, the film that will put the finishing touch to the successful franchise, will be released. Other projects already underway are the horror film SUMMER CAMP, which will be the directorial debut of Alberto Marini, screenwriter of WHILE YOU SLEEP, and the black comedy INCIDENCES, by Jose Corbacho and Juan Cruz, the tandem that directed the also produced by Filmax, TAPAS. One of the company's latest bets has been the television series, POLSERES VERMELLES (RED BRACELETS). Produced for Televisió de Catalunya, it is written by Albert Espinosa and directed by Pau Freixas. After two seasons, the series has become a spectacular phenomenon that has generated a huge fan base, especially among the adolescent public. In the musical field, GREASE, THE MUSICAL OF YOUR LIFE and SPAMALOT, are two of the titles that the company has premiered in theater.

Internationally, FILMAX INTERNATIONAL markets the exploitation rights of audiovisual works abroad to specialized local distributors. The international sales force is a distinctive factor of GRUPO FILMAX, not only because it was the first national company to develop this activity but also because of its high degree of professionalism and recognition in the sector. Currently, important national TV channels, as well as producers of recognized prestige, entrust GRUPO FILMAX with the international distribution of their content.
Among the internationally distributed titles are NO PEACE FOR THE WICKED, by Enrique Urbizu; INVADER, by Daniel Calparsoro or SPANISH MOVIE by Javier Ruiz Caldera.
Exhibition
In the field of exhibition, Filmax has the FILMAX GRANVIA multiplex with 12 screens and a capacity of 2600 seats in the Gran Via 2 Shopping Center in L'Hospitalet de Llobregat, Barcelona. Filmax participates in the shareholding of ACEC (Àrea Catalana d'ExhibiciòCinematogràfica) which brings together more than 350 screens, being the only distributor-producer partner.
Production and post-production services
GRUPO FILMAX, through its subsidiary INFINIA, with offices in Barcelona and Madrid, provides production and post-production services. As for production services, INFINIA is a leader in services for serial fiction, series such as “POLONIA / CRAKOVIA”, “ÁGUILA ROJA”, ”FISICA O QUIMICA”, “HISPANIA”, etc. are shot on its sets.
Likewise, its strategic plan includes providing services to television stations, both public and private, in the entire outsourcing process that is beginning.
